Terms of Service

Last Updated: June 1, 2026

Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Meetsup ("Meetsup", "we", "us", or "our") governing your use of the Meetsup mobile application (the "App"). By accessing or using the App, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy and Child Safety Standards, which are incorporated by reference. If you do not agree, do not use the App. We may update these Terms from time to time as described in "Changes" below.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Meetsup. By creating an account you represent and warrant that you are 18 or older and legally able to enter into these Terms. You must also not be barred from using the App under the laws of your country, and not be located in, or a resident of, a country or region subject to comprehensive sanctions. Accounts found to belong to minors are terminated immediately.

Your Anonymous Account

Meetsup does not require an email address or phone number; your account is tied to an anonymous identifier on your device. You are responsible for activity that occurs through your account and device. You may not transfer or sell your account, create accounts to evade restrictions, or use automated means to access the App. We may associate an abuse-prevention device fingerprint with your use, as described in the Privacy Policy.

Licence to Use the App

We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App for your own non-commercial use, subject to these Terms. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell, or create derivative works from the App except where such restriction is prohibited by law.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Meetsup to: send spam or commercial solicitation; harass, threaten, stalk, or intimidate anyone; post or transmit content that is unlawful, hateful, or infringing; impersonate any person; collect or harvest other users' data; circumvent our safety, rate-limiting, or moderation systems; introduce malware; or violate any applicable law. You also agree to follow the in-app rules shown for features such as Global Chat.

Prohibited Content

The following are strictly prohibited and may result in immediate restriction or termination and, where applicable, a report to law enforcement and NCMEC: any sexual content involving minors (real, simulated, or AI-generated), grooming or solicitation of minors, child sexual abuse material; non-consensual intimate imagery; sexual extortion; content that promotes violence, terrorism, or self-harm; hate speech targeting protected groups; and content that facilitates illegal activity or infringes others' rights. See our Child Safety Standards page for details.

Content You Post

You retain ownership of the content you submit. By posting content, you grant Meetsup a worldwide, limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, transmit, and display that content solely to operate the App (for example, to deliver your messages and show your profile to the users you choose). This licence ends when the content is deleted from our systems, except for copies retained for safety, legal, or backup purposes as described in the Privacy Policy. We do not claim ownership of your content and do not use it for advertising.

Your Interactions With Other Users

Meetsup connects anonymous users; we do not verify the identity, age, statements, or intentions of any user, and we do not endorse any user or any content they share. You are solely responsible for the messages, images, information, and any other content or data you choose to share with other users, and for your interactions with them. Anything you send to another user may be seen, saved, screenshotted, or re-shared by that user outside of Meetsup — although chats are deleted from our servers, we cannot control what another user does with what you have sent them, so please do not share sensitive personal, financial, or identifying information. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Meetsup is not responsible or liable for any content or data shared between users, for the conduct of any user, or for any loss, harm, or damages arising out of your communications, interactions, or any meeting with another user. You interact with other users entirely at your own risk. This clause does not limit our commitment to review reports and to enforce our Prohibited Content rules and Child Safety Standards.

Ephemeral Messaging

Conversations on Meetsup are ephemeral by design. Chats expire after a set period and are permanently deleted from our servers; we do not archive them, and once expired they cannot be recovered. As noted above, deletion on our side does not prevent another user from saving content before it expires.

Reporting & Moderation

We provide tools to report users and content. We review reports (with a target of 24 hours for safety reports, and immediate prioritisation for reports involving minors) and may remove content, restrict features, suspend, or terminate accounts, with or without notice, where we reasonably believe these Terms have been violated. Moderation is carried out on a reasonable-efforts basis: we do not and cannot guarantee that all content is reviewed before it is seen, and the absence of action on particular content is not a waiver of our rights.

Third-Party Services

The App relies on third-party services, including Cloudflare (infrastructure), Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (notifications), GIPHY (GIF search), and, if you choose to contribute, external payment providers. Your use of those features may be subject to the third party's own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services or content, and links or integrations do not imply our endorsement.

Intellectual Property & Copyright Complaints

The App, its design, and its trademarks are owned by Meetsup or its licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. We respect intellectual-property rights and expect you to do the same. If you believe content on Meetsup infringes your copyright or other rights, send a notice to legal@meetsup.in identifying the work, the allegedly infringing content and where it appears, your contact details, and a good-faith statement. We will act on valid notices, including by removing content and restricting repeat infringers.

Voluntary Support

Meetsup is free to use, with no paid features, subscriptions, or in-app purchases. From the Support page you may choose to send the developer a voluntary contribution via an external payment link. These contributions are gratuities for the developer's work — they do not unlock any feature, content, or benefit in the App, and they are non-refundable once sent.

Disclaimer of Warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, that any match or connection will be made, or that other users are who they claim to be. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Meetsup and its developer will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, goodwill, or profits, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the App or your interactions with other users. Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the App will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (which may be zero) or USD 50.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. If you are a consumer, these limitations apply only to the extent permitted by the mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country.

Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Meetsup and its developer from any claims, damages, losses, and reasonable expenses (including legal fees) arising out of your content, your use of the App, your interactions with other users, or your violation of these Terms or of any law or third-party right. This obligation does not apply to the extent a claim results from our own wrongdoing, and does not apply where such indemnities are unenforceable against consumers under applicable law.

Suspension & Termination

You may stop using Meetsup and delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete My Account. We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access — immediately and without notice where necessary — if you violate these Terms or applicable law, if needed to protect users or comply with legal obligations, or if we discontinue the App. Our safety system may also automatically limit certain features based on behaviour signals. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including content licences for retained copies, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification, and dispute terms) will survive.

Changes to the App and These Terms

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the App at any time. We may also update these Terms; for material changes we will provide notice in the App and update the "Last Updated" date. Changes take effect when posted (or on the stated effective date), and your continued use after that constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree to a change, you must stop using the App.

Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

Except where the mandatory law of your country of residence requires otherwise, these Terms are governed by the laws of India (the operator's home jurisdiction), without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and you and Meetsup agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located there for any dispute, subject to the protections below.

Before bringing any claim, you agree to first contact us at legal@meetsup.in and attempt to resolve the dispute informally in good faith for at least 30 days. Nothing in this section deprives you, where you are a consumer, of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of the country in which you live, including your right to bring proceedings in your local courts and to have your local consumer law apply. We do not require binding arbitration or a waiver of class actions where such terms are unenforceable in your jurisdiction.

Your Mandatory Consumer Rights

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any right or remedy you have as a consumer under the mandatory laws of your country that cannot be waived by agreement. Where any provision of these Terms conflicts with such a mandatory right, that right prevails for you.

Export Controls & Sanctions

You represent that you are not located in, and are not a national or resident of, a country or region subject to comprehensive government sanctions, and that you are not on any government list of prohibited or restricted parties. You agree not to use the App in violation of any applicable export-control or sanctions laws.

General

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Child Safety Standards, are the entire agreement between you and Meetsup regarding the App. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect and the unenforceable part is limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them to a successor (for example in connection with a transfer of the App). There are no third-party beneficiaries. We are not liable for failure or delay caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
